Five legendary Canadian country music artists are being recognized on postage stamps by their home country on July 31.
Canada Post is honoring the following as part of its Canadian Country Artists/Artistes Country Canadiens series: Shania Twain, k.d. lang, Tommy Hunter, Renee Martel and Hank Snow. Each artist will be featured in a booklet of 10 stamps; and the five stamp designs will also appear on five souvenir sheets each highlighting by a particular artist.
In addition to the stamps themselves, the philatelic products associated with the series include postal cards, first day covers and limited edition framed prints.
This is not the first time Canada Post has honored the country’s own musicians—past music stamp series issues have commemorated such luminaries as Bryan Adams, Joni Mitchell, Paul Anka,Robbie Robertson, Bruce Cockburn, Rush, Anne Murray, and Kate and Anna McGarrigle.
