Linda Ronstadt
Just One Look

Linda Ronstadt’s career is the focus of this latest 2-CD compilation, spanning the period from her time with the Stone Poneys in the late ’60s (“Different Drum”), through her 1993 album Winter Light. In between are the songs that reveals Ronstadt as perhaps one of the greatest interpreters of any genre of music, whether it’s pop, country, rock and roll, New Wave, and adult contemporary. The highlight of course are the hits and memorable tracks that made the singer a star during the ’70s: “You’re No Good,” “Desperado,” “It’s So Easy,” are just a few of them featured on the set, Certainly this set has several other hits that are absent, notably “When Will I Be Loved,” “Poor Poor Pitiful Me,” “Long Long Time,” “Somewhere Out There,” and another duet with Aaron Neville “All My Life” (one can find those on previous hits albums)– but it also includes some perhaps overlooked material from the Get Closer and Winter Light albums. Just One Look is another reminder of the powerhouse vocalist’s exemplary body of work.
