Ahh, to be young, good looking, and oh yeah, musically-talented. Cincotti is probably the heir apparent to Harry Connick, Jr. in terms of displaying his cool understated vocal style against his dazzling jazz piano (while looking like a matinee idol). His latest album furthers the traditional jazz/Tin Pan Alley pop approach. That is definitely true on the exuberant leadoff track of W.C. Handy's "St. Louis Blues." The young girls are guaranteed to melt upon his rendition of "Some Kind of Wonderful" performed quite elegantly for those who hate standards; "I Love Paris" has a sly, orchestrated feel with a '60s cinematic feel. The best songs here are the ones he wrote himself including "On the Moon" with its uplifting, buoyant feel. Another song he wrote "He's Watching" has a sublime, haunting beauty that Chet Baker could have made a signature song out of. Cincotti reveals himself not only a true pop stylist vocally but as a first-rate songwriter himself. This guys is really the whole package-a rare thing.
